My life finally paused enough to grab a few pictures of the plants growing about my yard.  There has been some wonderful sunny days and wet rainy days.  As a result, tons of plants and flowers are growing all over the place.  Warning...this post will be picture heavy and some pictures may be a repeat.  No filters. The Spirea hedge growing next to our drive way has lovely white flowers.  The hedge has filled out quite nicely.  I definitely didn't over prune and maybe should have clipped more.  I am thinking of digging some of the roots that are meandering in the wrong direction and handing them out.  Looks like some root propagation research is in my future.   The back garden has a mix of Alaska roses, morning glory, Columbine, ferns, potatoes.  This rose bush is doing battle with the morning glory.  Both want the same space.  At the moment, I'd say the roses are doing pretty good.   One of the many...

One of my favorite seasons has begun.  Spring is always a reminder that from the deep darkness of winter comes life.  Underneath the dry dead grass, are roots waiting to spring forth (see what I did there?!?! Spring!!!) and grow tall in the sunshine and rain.  In the garden beds that look like boxes of dirt and dry leaves are bulbs awakening.  After a long season of white, gray, brown, coldness, wetness and bulky clothes...I know why The Creator made so many colors for the rest of the year.   Today, the sun rose at about 4:30 am, and as I sit here at 8 pm, there is still daylight out.  According to  timeanddate.com  the sun will set at 11:30.  Plenty of time to go for a run, play in the garden or just lay on the hammock.  As long as you don't mind the bugs. Been some time since my last post. In my head, I have written at least 30 posts. The subjects vary from my DD19 graduating, to our trip, to looking for work, to going Gluten Free, to the beautiful summer in Alaska. Alas, being a post only counts if they make it on the blog, right? Anyway... Summertime in Alaska! Woot!!! According to KTUU , the weather forecast is as follows: Monday: Rain, High 59 & Low 44 Tuesday: Partly Cloudy, High 61 & Low 43 Wednesday: Mostly Cloudy, High 58 & Low 45 Thursday: Mostly Cloudy, High 59 & Low 44 Friday: Mostly Cloudy, High 61 & Low 47 Saturday: Rain, High 58 & Low 49 Hmmm....Hoping the Saturday forecast will change for the better. Meaning no rain. Saturday my DD10 & I are running in the 2012 Alaska Run for Women. Personally, I don't care if it rains but it would be easier to keep DD10's spirits up if there is no rain. Anyone know a good anti-rain dance?

This is really my first foray into the world of blogging. I have written in a diary/journal for years and have a small page on MySpace but have not done much in publishing on the WorldWideWeb. The purpose of this blog is to chronicle the life of my family and I. Ya know...daily ordeals, exercise, the weather, holidays, general life in Alaska, food, etc... Some days I may write a lot, some days I may write nothing. Some days I may write insightful thoughts, other days I may write about my house plants that do better when I ignore them or the moose in my backyard. Little bit about myself. I moved to Alaska in 1988 with the rest of my family. My dad was in the Coast Guard and he was stationed on the Kodiak Coast Guard Base. In 1992, we moved to the Mat-Su Valley and have lived there since. My husband and I married in 2001 and we have two girls and one boy -16, 6 & 4. I have been a SAHM since May 2007 and have loved it!
